Interviews with gay men and others were popular Mandate features and, to a lesser extent, in Honcho and Playguy as well. As editor-in-chief, I sought variety in interview subjects. Eventually my colleagues and I spoke with a number of show business celebrities, writers, and politicians. A few turned me down, or else did not respond. Those refuseniks I will introduce first.
